Most candles are paraffin, synthetic fragrance and dye. We wanted one we would keep in our own rooms, so we built it from the wax up.
The wax. Soy 55%, coconut 35%, beeswax 10%, poured as a single body rather than in layers. Three cotton wicks, lead-free, running the full depth of it. Twelve ounces in matte cream glass with a gold lid.
The scent. Essential oils, or none at all. Sweet orange and lemon, cold-pressed from the peel. Sandalwood heartwood, steam distilled. Vetiver root from Haiti. Helichrysum from Corsica. Subtle scent philosophy — never overpowering.
The silver. Metallic silver, 99.99% pure, carried in that same wax at roughly ten micrograms per gram. Far too little to see. It is one ingredient of the wax.

What was measured
Developed using controlled chamber testing at ARE Labs. A finished, burning candle was placed in a controlled room-sized chamber alongside untreated control chambers, and the air was sampled.

Every figure is net — the control chambers were subtracted. Results describe the complete burning candle, not any one ingredient and not any one scent. The full lab reports are on our science page.
